I read a very interesting article by David T. Olson. He states that by 2050 only 10% of Americans will attend church on any given Sunday. What!? That’s crazy! Children’s ministry is more important than ever before. These are our kids deciding not to attend church. These are the kids that we’re not reaching. In fact, as I write this, I literally feel like God challenging me to not be so inwardly focused with children’s ministry, but to be more outwardly focused. Personally, I can easily get caught up with the atmosphere of our kid’s church building/rooms that I forget that I’m not just called to raise up kids within my four walls, but I’m called to reach out with the love of Jesus to those kids who need Him most.
Read the article. We need to be aware of our culture and current trends.
